destination Greece

our first stop was Stavros, but this was just a pit stop to get some sleep, as our first destination was Kalambaka, Meteora. I'm glad though that we stopped in Stavros, as we had one of the best meals we had in Greece, If your ever in Stavros, I highly recommend the Kalamatianos restaurant, we had the shrimp and vongole clams and tried a lamb souvlaki, they were all delicious and fresh, and staff very friendly. The following day we arrived in Kastraki, where we stayed for 2 nights, and visited 2 out of the 6 monasteries, the sandstone rock pillars and the view were amazing:

Next stop for 2 days, Lefkada with it's crystal blue waters.

We checked out two beaches, the first was Porto Katziki, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, accessible by 80 steep steps. For the bathroom you have to climb the stairs back up:)
This beach was very crowded, and if you can't swim, you can't really go in, as the water gets deep at the shore. What was nice though that the beach is sunny only after noon, so it was nice and cool in the morning, due to the hills, as you can see below:

Egremni beach is much longer and wider, but it's a shingle beach, for which I was not prepared, they do sell special shoes, as it's pure torture to walk barefoot, but I mostly sat at the shore and collected some pebbles. This beach is also more challenging to get to.. why you ask? because you'll have 350 steps to climb, when you'll want to leave. The way down was the easy part.

to be continued...

Thanks so much for visiting!

  1. Wow great pics, lovely place :)

  2. Foarte faine poze Carmen, a doua poza cu apa marii mi-a starnit imaginatia: un dinozaur cu gat lung stand cu botul relaxat in apa. Formatiunile din piatra arata tare bine cu vegetatia bogata de la baza.

  3. I absolutely loved your post. Greece is next in my list.

  4. oh my goodness those water views are stunning! would love to visit Greece! :)
